My name is Sato and I arrived at CJCR on 9/28/23.  I was found as a stray on 9/22/23, in Pueblo, Colorado.  I was taken to the shelter and was in pretty rough shape.  I was covered in burs which were tangled in my coat and was pretty dirty.  I was still intact and very cautious with the people in the shelter.  I do have a scar on the cornea of my left eye, which was most likely the result of an old eye injury.  Once coming into rescue it was immediately noted that I was having a problem with my left rear leg.  After going to the vet for my initial health check up it was decided x-rays on my hind quarters would best determine the problem.  On 10/5/23, I had surgery to get neutered and have a much needed dental.  I had 3 teeth extracted and was missing 4.  I also had x-rays, which explained the lameness.  At some point in my life I was most likely hit by a car or suffered a traumatic injury which fractured my pelvis.  I probably was never treated by a veterinarian, therefore the fracture healed a little twisted and not completely aligned.  I currently take 10 mg of Galliprant once a day which really helps with the arthritis and pain.  I am heartworm negative and take monthly preventative.  I walk well on a leash and am a very sweet dog if I trust you.  I can be a little snarky with strangers and am looking for a home with no small children, since I can be a little unpredictable.  I would make a fantastic only dog or in a home with other calm small dogs.  I do well in my foster home with the other dogs in the house.  I am looking for a family who understands that I have some trust issues and is willing to go slow with me.  I must be a Colorado only or previous out of state adopter.  I am a bigger boy who weighs 20 lbs.  Once I settle in I am a very sweet and loving companion who loves to play with toys.  I am house trained with a doggie door and like to sleep in my crate at night.
