Thank you for your interest in becoming a foster family for the Colorado Japanese Chin Rescue. By opening your home to a foster dog, you're giving them the time, stability, and individual attention they need to heal, adjust, and prepare for a successful forever home. Foster families play an essential role in every dog's journey.

If you're ready to make a meaningful difference, please fill out our Foster Application to get started.

VOLUNTEER
Our rescue is powered entirely by volunteers, and every role plays a vital part in helping dogs get the care and second chances they deserve. There are many ways to make a meaningful difference, whether you have a little time or a lot. If you are interested in any of these roles, please complete our Volunteer Application. Every helping hand makes a difference.

Transportation
Help transport dogs to vet appointments, adoption events, partner rescues, or their new forever homes. If you can lend time and mileage, please complete our Volunteer Application.
Events
We participate in several events each year and always need help with planning, setup, teardown, handling dogs, and talking with the public. If you enjoy organizing or representing the rescue, we’d love your support.
Administration
Behind the scenes, we manage records, home visits, reference checks, website updates, veterinary tracking, and compliance with PACFA and IRS requirements. If you have administrative or organizational skills, we welcome your help.
Foster Helpers
Some foster homes need extra support with walking, training, socializing, or transporting dogs. Many of our dogs are new to home life and need patient, gentle guidance. If you have a calm presence and love working with animals, this role is perfect.
Fundraising
Adoption fees rarely cover the extensive medical care our dogs receive. We rely on grants and fundraising to bridge the gap. If you have ideas, experience, or enthusiasm for raising funds, we’d be grateful for your help.
Application Processing
Every adopter and volunteer completes an application. Volunteers help review applications, make phone calls, check references, and assist with home visits. If you’re comfortable speaking with new people and enjoy detail‑oriented work, this is a great fit.
Hospice Care
Some dogs are not candidates for adoption due to age or medical conditions. Hospice foster homes give them love, comfort, and dignity for the rest of their lives. If you have a special heart for senior or fragile dogs, we would love to talk with you.
Sponsor a Hospice Dog
If you can’t foster, you can still help by sponsoring a hospice dog’s medical care. Many require ongoing medications, special diets, or advanced treatment. Your support gives them the quality of life they deserve.
