My name is Maggie Mae and I came to CJCR on 1/4/22 after being rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri.  I have been in foster care in Aurora, Colorado and am doing really well in my foster home.  I am still working on housetraining but have been really good about using puppy pads when I do not have access to go outside.  I get along with other dogs and am learning all about being a house dog.  I am a very sweet dog who is a little shy with strangers and in new environments but am doing remarkably well.  I do struggle with walking on a leash and this will require time and patience.  I am a pretty healthy girl with the exception of bilateral luxating patellas.  Since I am not painful and get around fine the veterinarian did not feel like surgery was required at this time.  I was spay and and had dental on 2/3/22.  I also had a couple of mammary tumors removed and biopsied which came back benign with clear margins.  I am heartworm negative and on year round preventative.  My blood work and chest x-rays came back great.  My urine came back with crystals, however we are keeping me on a diet of very good food and will re check my urine after I have been on the urinary diet for a month.  I am a happy little girl who is loving my new life of love and a great deal of care.  If interested in adopting Maggie Mae, please complete an application.  Maggie is ready for her forever home and would really do well in a home with another small canine.  This little girl will make a wonderful companion.  Please know that puppy mill survivors can take longer to adjust to new people and situations since they have not been treated well or well socialized.
